4-01 309lbs

6-05 170lbs and feeling badass

This website is dedicated to my experience with Laparoscopic RNY Gastric Bypass. I had this done at the Alvarado Center for Surgical Weight Loss in San Diego, Ca April 11th, 2001. I believe WLS is a "jumpstart" not a cure and has been a means to a seriously positive end in my case. I've gotten some really amazing results through the surgery limiting my intake for a year and me working out regularly (4-5 days a week!) from about 2 months post-op.

I've had amazing days (snowboarding for the 1st time after losing 150 lbs) and days that have completely SUCKED (throwing up 3 times a day while learning the limits of my pouch). It's been an adventure to say the least ...

I really believe weightlifting and cardio were the keys to my chance at lasting success. Developing a healthy "relationship" with food is an ongoing process for me, (argh) but reaching a healthy level of physical fitness has made all the difference. I hope my spilling my guts here online helps others with their WLS journeys...

It's June, and I'm now 20 days post op from an Extended Abdominoplasty, Breast Lift and Augmentation. I gained a ton of fluid/swelling weight, but thankfully 15 of that is off and I'm still only 10lbs from my goal weight. New body,

New Blog

. Enjoy!

UPDATED 1/5/06

Around the beginning of 2003 I started gaining back some weight. I gained muscle AND fat. 35lbs to be exact. I've managed to lose 24lbs over the last 2 years and have 10 to go to get back to my post-op goal. I feel really good where I am now, and I wouldn't die if I didn't lose that last 11lbs but I'd be really bummed about all the clothes I have my closet that don't quite fit at this weight! Here's to an amazing 2006.....
